ClearBee Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 September 2026 · Ron Stoleru, trading as ClearBee
1. Who is responsible for your information
Ron Stoleru, trading as ClearBee, of 39 Petah Tikva Street, Netanya, Israel, is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Where data protection law uses that term, we are the controller of that information.
This policy covers the ClearBee Windows application, clearbee.io, and our account and support services. Contact support@clearbee.io about privacy or to exercise your rights.
2. Your PDFs stay on your computer
ClearBee detects and redacts marks in PDFs and saves the results on your Windows computer. It does not upload your PDFs to our servers to perform those functions.
The application connects to online services for sign-in, subscription and usage checks, billing, detection-model downloads, and updates. Page counts used for metering can be sent to our billing service. Those counts are separate from the contents of your PDFs.
If you choose to send us a document, screenshot, or diagnostic information for support, we receive what you send. Please remove personal or confidential material that is not needed to explain the issue. This voluntary support exchange is separate from the application's local PDF processing.
3. Information we handle
| Information | Source and use |
|---|---|
| Account information | Your email address, account identifier, and any profile information supplied through sign-in. Amazon Cognito provides authentication. We use this information to manage and secure your account. |
| Subscription and transaction information | Plan, subscription status, access allowances, transaction identifiers, and relevant billing information received from Paddle. We use these records to enable purchased access and handle billing queries. Paddle collects payment details at checkout; the ClearBee application does not store full payment card numbers. |
| Usage information | Page counts and information needed to check your plan and usage allowances. We use these records to administer access and apply the limits of your plan. |
| Technical information | IP addresses and connection records received by authentication, billing, hosting, and download services, together with application version and update or model-download requests. These support delivery, troubleshooting, and security. |
| Contact and support information | The information you send in emails or contact forms, including your name, email address, company, phone number if provided, and message. We use it to respond to your request. Our website contact form uses Web3Forms. |
| Local application data | Session credentials, account identifiers, settings, and local working files stored on your computer so the application can operate and keep you signed in. Storage on your computer is distinct from information held by our online services. |
We receive information directly from you, automatically when you use the relevant service, and from the providers identified above. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Why we use information
We use personal information to provide access to ClearBee, authenticate users, administer subscriptions and usage limits, deliver updates and detection models, respond to enquiries, investigate faults or abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, the relevant legal bases are:
- Contract: managing your account, delivering your subscription, and providing support necessary for our contract with you or steps you request before entering it.
- Legitimate interests: protecting accounts and systems, investigating misuse, maintaining reliable services, responding to business enquiries, and administering a relationship with your employer or organisation. We consider the effect on your rights when relying on these interests.
- Legal obligations: keeping records and responding to legal requirements that apply to us.
- Consent: activities for which consent is required. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
These GDPR bases do not replace the requirements of Israeli privacy law. Where Israeli law requires consent or another legal permission for collection, use, or disclosure, that requirement applies separately.
Providing information to us is voluntary unless a specific legal requirement is explained when it is requested. However, we need account information to provide an account, subscription information to verify paid access, and sufficient contact details to respond to an enquiry. If you do not provide that information, we may be unable to provide the relevant service. You do not need to give us your PDF contents to use the application's detection and redaction functions.
5. Who receives information
We use the following providers for the purposes described:
- Amazon Web Services, including Amazon Cognito: authentication and the billing and access services we operate on AWS.
- Paddle: selling subscriptions, collecting payments, and administering transactions. Paddle acts as a separate controller for personal information it handles for its own payment and Merchant of Record activities. See Paddle's Privacy Notice.
- GitHub: application release information and update distribution.
- Web3Forms: delivering website contact-form submissions.
- SiteGround: hosting the marketing website (clearbee.io).
- Google Workspace: mailbox for support@clearbee.io (product support and privacy contact).
Providers acting on our instructions may use information to provide their services to us. Providers acting independently, including Paddle for its own payment activities, explain their practices in their own notices.
We may disclose relevant information to authorities where legally required, or to professional advisers where reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, or dispute matters. We limit such disclosure to the information needed for that purpose.
6. International processing
We operate from Israel and use providers that may process information in other countries.
Providers listed above may process information in the EU, the United States, and other countries. Where a transfer mechanism is required, we rely on the contractual and organisational safeguards offered by those providers under their terms. Contact support@clearbee.io for further information about the safeguards that apply to your information.
You can contact support@clearbee.io for information about the safeguards that apply to your information and to request a copy where applicable, with confidential details removed where necessary.
7. How long we keep information
We retain information only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it is held, taking account of the following criteria:
- Account records: while needed to provide and secure your account, and after closure only where a specific legal, dispute, or security need justifies continued retention.
- Subscription and transaction records: for the accounting, tax, payment-dispute, and other recordkeeping periods that apply to the record and the relevant jurisdiction.
- Support correspondence: while resolving your enquiry and for a period justified by related follow-up or a reasonably anticipated dispute.
- Usage and technical records: while needed to administer the relevant plan or investigate faults and security events. Records needed for a specific investigation may be retained for that investigation.
- Backups: until the relevant backup is replaced or expires under its retention cycle, subject to any legal preservation requirement.
Paddle determines its own retention for records it controls. Local PDFs, output files, and application data are managed on your computer. Uninstalling the application may leave some files behind; deleting your online account does not automatically delete files on your computer.
8. Cookies and similar storage
ClearBee does not use first-party website analytics in the website configuration covered by this policy. That does not mean the website or connected services collect no information: hosting logs, authentication, contact forms, and checkout services may process the information described above.
Paddle's checkout and other services you access may use cookies or similar storage for their functions. Their notices explain their practices. Where we introduce optional cookies or tracking that require consent, we will provide the required information and choices before using them.
9. Your rights
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access your personal information, correct it, request deletion, restrict processing, receive a portable copy, or object to processing. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in the applicable law.
Under Israeli law, you may request access to personal information about you held in a database and request correction of information that is incorrect, incomplete, unclear, or out of date, subject to the law's conditions.
Send requests to support@clearbee.io. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify your identity. We will respond within the period required by the law that applies to your request. For payment information controlled by Paddle, you can also contact Paddle through its Privacy Notice.
You may complain to the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority or, where applicable, the data protection authority in your EU/EEA country or the UK Information Commissioner's Office. You do not have to contact us before making a complaint.
10. Security and children
We use measures appropriate to the information and risks involved to protect personal information. No system can guarantee complete security. Protect your computer, account credentials, and any local documents or backups.
ClearBee is not directed to children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us so we can assess and address it.
11. Changes
We will update this policy when our practices or legal obligations change and show the revised date. We will provide additional notice of significant changes, and obtain consent where required, before using information in a way that requires it.
